HCV Waiting List for the County-based Homeless Preference Only
At this time, the waiting list is closed for public registration, which means a family/individual cannot be added to the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program waitlist. The HCV Program is open to prioritize and continually accept referrals from a Coordinated Entry System (CES) and/or other partnering agencies for families that are homeless. Current wait-listed families are also given the benefit of the homeless preference if they are experiencing homelessness.
If you are currently on the HCV Waiting List and are not homeless, you are encouraged to apply to the LACDA’s other housing program waiting lists that may be open.
WHERE TO APPLY: Eligible applicants must be referred by service providers. If you, or someone you know is homeless and are not currently working with a service provider, you may dial 2‐1‐1, call (800) 399‐6993, or visit 211LA.org. The 2‐1‐1 phone line is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. You may also click here for housing services in your service planning area (SPA) through the Los Angeles County Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA).

WAITING LISTS FOR ELDERLY AND GENERAL OCCUPANCY PUBLIC HOUSING SITES OPEN AUGUST 17
On August 17, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., the Los Angeles County Development Authority’s (LACDA) Public Housing Program will begin accepting registrations for its 16 Site‑Based Waiting Lists (SBWLs), 10 of which are elderly-designated properties.
Interested persons may apply to one or more of the SBWLs through September 16, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The waiting lists for small sites will close once 1,000 applications are received, or on September 16, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., whichever comes first. The County’s Section 8 waiting list remains closed.
Registrants may choose, based on eligibility, to register on one or more of the 16 SBWLs. All applicants will be selected from each waiting list in order of admission preferences and then by date and time.
