The public is invited to review the following proposed off-cycle project of the County to be included in the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Action Plan, which identifies projected use of funds for July 1, 2023– June 30, 2024 for submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). 

FOURTH SUPERVISORIAL DISTRICT PROJECT

Original CDBG Amount: $100,000

Description:  This continuing project provides locally sustainably grown produce and a variety of community workshops, youth Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) programs, community events, and a safe green space for recreation within a seven (7) acre urban farm and community garden to the residents of the Carmelitos Housing Development.  The Growing Experience is located at 750 Via Carmelitos, Long Beach, CA 90805.  CDBG funds will be used for personnel and non-personnel costs.  This activity meets the HUD National Objective as a project serving Low- and Moderate-income Limited Clientele under HUD Code 05Z.
