LACDA One of 245 Award Recipients
Alhambra, August 9, 2024 – The Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded over $1.098 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) administrative fees. The funding will help support the agency’s ongoing efforts to assist eligible veterans in obtaining and maintaining their VASH-subsidized housing.
Two hundred and forty-five eligible Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) from 43 states across the nation, administering a total of 62,646 vouchers, applied for the available funding which totaled $20 million. Based on the awards made, HUD is granting approximately $319.25 in additional administrative fees for each HUD-VASH voucher administered by the award recipients. The LACDA has a current allocation of 3,442 HUD-VASH vouchers.
“We applaud HUD’s commitment to assist PHAs who help house homeless veterans,” said Emilio Salas, LACDA Executive Director. “This additional funding will assist in our efforts to ensure that the County’s veterans, who dedicated themselves and sacrificed for our nation, are properly housed and given the dignity and respect they deserve.”
As the second largest PHA in the County of Los Angeles, the LACDA serves the unincorporated areas as well as 62 incorporated cities that collaborate with the agency to provide residents with housing services. The LACDA partners with over 10,000 property owners to subsidize more than 30,000 housing units by providing vouchers to residents across the County and offers financial incentives to property owners who agree to accept subsidized tenants holding County HUD-VASH or Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.
